Listen to the poem in audio format.

In repose against the couch
in a criss-cross plunging V top:
busts in view, legs spread.
She sat carefree as if to say
“Enjoy the view,”
as if worn to be seen or complimented
her lacy lingerie, showing off a narrow ridge
all centred by a dark sprout of a bush,
curves and crevices that used to tease lust.
Such wardrobe malfunction
does not ring a bell anymore, nor does it
bring to my mind wild carnal imagery
all I see is an undergarment and parted thighs,
“Good God! Has midlife kicked in,
too soon?”
